Welcome to the Mirror of PI6ALK
PI6ALK is an Amateur Television Repeater, located at Heerhugowaard, The Netherlands, available terrestrial, by satellite and on the World Wide Web.
On the Video Mosaic you will see 16 different video pictures of HAM operators, which are all received by air at Heerhugowaard. The 16 pictures are mixed into the so called Video PIP unit and are re-transmitted on the 13 cm band. The frequency which is used by PI6ALK, is 2352 MHz.
PI6ALK is equipped with 4 Wegener Panda audio modulators on 7.02 & 7.20 and 7.38 & 7.56 MHz
Nicam stereo can be found on 6.552 MHz, while one 192 Kbps QPSK stereo audio carrier is injected on 5.76 MHz and another on 7.74 MHz.
All these different carriers make it possible for the HAM operators, to "separate" into a different "box" as we call it. This way it can be avoided, that all the discussions are mixing up. Some of the HAM's use the "Internet group carriers", while others use the "technical carriers". It all depends on the different interests.
The sound on the Internet is taken from the "technical carriers", while the sound which is transmitted to Eutelsat W2 is taken from the NICAM carrier. Of course all audio's can be mixed by remote operation.
